Tallest Flag in Michigan Becoming a Reality in New Baltimore

Lake St. Clair’s tallest flag in Michigan is now becoming a reality thanks to the hard work of the New Baltimore Lions Club.  The flag will become a new boating landmark replacing a water tower torn down in 2015.  This tallest flag in Michigan is being installed at the edge of Lake St. Clair in New Baltimore’s Walter and Mary Burke Park.

Yesterday afternoon, the flag installation team began digging the 30 foot deep x 6 foot diameter hole for the base.  The steel insert above will be installed, and cement will be poured to fill the hole.  After a week of cement cure, the flag pole will be erected.   The plan is for a gala dedication of the flag early October… will let you know!

$102,929 has been raised through numerous generous people around the lake, and from around the country, to pay for the installation, electrical work, extra flag, and the first year maintenance contract.   Special thanks to the chairman leading this effort, Ron Earle.
